Thomas P. Gressette, Jr. has been sworn in as the President of the South Carolina Chapter of the Federal Bar Association (FBA). The SC Chapter of the FBA has over 300 members and is committed to serving as the liaison among federal lawyers and judges. The Federal Bar Association itself was founded in 1920 and its 16,000 members are private and governmental lawyers as well as judges involved in the practice of law in the federal courts of the United States.
Mr. Gressette has been active in the Federal Bar Association's SC Chapter since 2003 and has served as a board member and officer of the Chapter. After graduating from law school, Mr. Gressette served as a law clerk to United States District Court Judge C. Weston Houck and then as an Assistant Federal Public Defender for the District of South Carolina before moving into private practice. He is currently an associate with RPWB and practices in the areas of Natural Resource Damages, Toxic Torts, and White Collar Criminal Defense. Mr. Gressette is a member of the South Carolina and United States Virgin Islands Bars and is admitted to practice before the United States Supreme Court and the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit and the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit.
