Phenylpropanolamine (PPA)

RPWB is not taking new clients for Phenylpropanolamine (PPA), but don't hesitate to contact us with any questions or if you'd like to explore your legal rights concerning another pharmaceutical drug.

Phenylpropanolamine (PPA) is an ingredient that was used in prescription and over-the-counter cold medicines as well as in diet drugs. PPA's intended purpose as a nasal decongestant was to relieve a stuffy nose or sinus congestion and its intended purpose in over-the-counter weight control products was to control appetite.

In May of 2000, the Food and Drug Administration received the results of a study conducted by scientists at Yale University School of Medicine. The results of that study showed an increased risk of hemorrhagic stroke (bleeding in the brain) for people who took products containing phenylpropanolamine. All PPA-containing products were removed from the market in November of 2000.

If you think you have been harmed as a result of taking a drug containing PPA and you still have the package the drug came in, you should check the list of ingredients for the word Phenylpropanolamine (PPA) then contact us immediately.

Symptoms of stroke include: weakness or inability to move a body part, numbness or loss of sensation, decreased or lost vision, drooping eyelids, language difficulties and/or slurred speech, and vertigo.
